CRASH: Autodrive is a narrative adventure game very similar to a visual novel. It was largely a solo project, but I hired an artist, a music composer, and sound designer to help create assets that I used to create the game.

Some of the responsibilities included:

  • Conceive of and write the overall story and diverse character designs.
  • Write and hookup all branching dialogue.
  • Program all gameplay and framework functionality as well as hooking up 3rd party libraries to add multi-platform controller support, save file support, platform support, etc.
  • Pitch the game to publishers and platforms such as Nintendo and Xbox.
  • Obtain and setup platform dev kits.
  • QA the game on PC and Nintendo Switch.
  • Conduct playtests and incorporate feedback.
  • Use production tools such as Trello to process feedback and tasks.
  • Create and maintain all business development for Studio Nightcap, LLC.
  • Create all marketing and store assets for various platforms like Nintendo eShop, Steam, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
  • Create and produce merchandise like shirts, stickers, buttons, and posters.
  • Co-create the trailers.
  • Show the game at conventions such as MAGFest Indie Video Game Showcase.

Game Synopsis

"CRASH: Autodrive is a narrative adventure set in the near future where nobody drives and self-driving Autocabs rule the city streets. It's just a normal day when four strangers get into an Autocab, but they are quickly thrust into danger when the car impossibly hits a cyclist. When they exit the car, they discover they all know the victim and they all have a motive for murder! Even the car's artificial intelligence!

You play as Emily, a young woman from a small town trying to make it in the big city. You will get to know your fellow passengers, and the car's A.I. as you investigate clues, solve puzzles, and use the clues you find to contradict lies, explore new conversations, and piece together the mystery of who killed Thomas Sinclair!"
